Mark Kadota  (1952 -  )

Mark Kadota is a painter, potter, art educator, sculptor, and performance artist. He is self-taught, except for ceramics which he studied under Dorothy (Beaucat) Tripp, and has traveled throughout the world studying artistic history, techniques and attitudes. He was born in Los Angeles, raised in Santa Barbara, and moved to Hawaii in 1971. In 1979 he left Hawaii for California where he found work teaching art and designing exhibits for the De Young Museum in Golden Gate Park. He moved back to Hawaii in 1983. His art captures the contemporary island landscape with a strong Asian influence. Many of his pieces are created as suites: he'll paint several panels of the same general subject matter that can be hung separately or together.
Kadota has recently divided his time between Hawaii and Holland where he maintains an art studio. Because of his exposure to Dutch and European influences, he has recently painted a series of still life paintings.
Kadota's art works have been collected by numerous private collections and have been exhibited in an impressive group of museums including:
-The Contemporary Museum, Honolulu, HI
-The Honolulu Academy of Arts, Honolulu, HI
-The Hawaii State Museum, Honolulu, HI
-The Bishop Museum, Honolulu, HI
-The Mission Houses Museum, Honolulu, HI
-The Reflex Miniature Museum, Amsterdam, Netherlands
-The Museum Het Toreke, Belgium
-The Museum van Bommel van Dam Venlo, Netherlands
