Finely crafted silver boxes called bonbonnieres, after the French word, were given as mementos to invited guests of Imperial banquets and state ceremonies from the late 1800s. Today, the custom of giving presentation boxes is not limited to the Imperial family, but has been adopted by corporations and ordinary people to commemorate the founding of a company or a wedding, or an auspicious event. This box has a design of wild flowers and grass on the top and rolling waves on the sides. It is sealed in English Toyokoki and marked 'Silver 990' (99% silver). It also has a logo in a diamond shape with the letters 'CPO' inside.
