Meiji Period (1868-1912) Japanese tonkotsu with a dragon motif. The tonkotsu which has a design of a dragon amid swirling clouds and sea spray is signed Tounsai in an elongated oval cartouche. Sprays from the sea are done in silver, horn, and black coral dots. This piece is similar to a wood inro illustrated in Lazarnick, page 1183 as well as an oni netsuke in the Meinertzhagen Card Index.
