19th century Japanese boxwood netsuke in the form of a zabuton (cusion). The design of this netsuke is charming. It is carved of boxwood which now has a lovely patina. The guest hibachi that sits on a cushion (zabuton)
refers to the cozy atmosphere of the home in winter. It has been carved in a reticulated style that adds a delicacy to the netsuke, since it is lighter than if left without hollowing.
