This 18th-19th century nephrite jade clasp is made in 2 parts. One part would have been sewn on each side of the opening of a garment, such as a cloak or robe. The tongue sticking out from one side is inserted in the hole in the other piece in order that it may close the garment. It is carved with the design of the endless knot, the treasure bag, and one of the immortals.
