20th century porcelain vase by Shumei Fujii. Shumei Fujii is an artist who was born in 1936. This vase derives from the traditional forms of the kilns at Arita. It has a grand landscape scene painted in blue underglaze around the body of the vase. It swells in the middle and rises to a narrow neck which turns out at the lip with three folds, somewhat in the form of a petal shape. This is a gorgeous innovation of the traditional forms of this kind of porcelain work. Mr. Fujii is a renowned potter.
